Commentaries and Prayer of the Faithful: XVIII SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, AUGUST 5, 2012

INPUT Admonition

Are all brothers and sisters, welcome to the Eucharist on Sunday 18 of Ordinary Time. Today has a special relevance because Jesus begins his discourse on the Bread of Heaven we occupy several Sundays of August. It is a wonderful development of the institution of the Eucharist that He will do for dinner on Holy Thursday. We are in a particularly appropriate time to meditate on our great truths and the Eucharist is one of them. Today, therefore, seems to us that is a very special Sunday: smells of freshly made bread, bread from heaven to save us. We begin our celebration with joy. We stand to receive the celebrant and his companions, with the joy of singing.

READINGS ON commentaries

1. – The first reading comes from chapter 16 of the Book of Exodus tells how the Jewish people, basking in the desert, was the food that God sends from heaven, manna. It is a clear history of our Eucharist with the difference-clear-that we in it for the love of Jesus, we eat our own God. Listen carefully.

2. – St. Paul in the Letter to the Ephesians, speaks of a profound transformation of the converts. Our second reading today will manifest, above all, the renewing power of the Spirit who gives us a new human condition created in the image of God, in righteousness and true holiness. Listen carefully.

3. – As we said in the admonition of Jesus of Nazareth entrance is going to be explaining today, and in successive Sundays, called “Speech of Bread”, and is not nothing but a prophetic advance what will be the Eucharist , instituted on Holy Thursday. It is the Evangelist John who collected these words which are undoubtedly among the most sublime of all the Gospel. Listen today, then, with a special attention. We stand to hear the proclamation of the Gospel.
